Nissan Leaf e+ gets max 5-star rating from Green NCAP

MANILA: The Nissan Leaf e+ has passed the comprehensive Green NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) with a five-star rating.

Formed to promote the production of clean and energy-efficient cars, the Green NCAP bestowed the Leaf e+ with a series of excellent scores across its three testing parameters — supporting the model’s wide-ranging sustainability credentials.

The zero-emission Leaf e+ received a perfect rating in the first two assessments after being put through real-world and laboratory tests according to stringent clean air, greenhouse gas, and energy efficiency standards.

The Leaf e+ received 9.9 out of 10 for its remarkable energy efficiency performance, highlighting the intelligent design of the fully electric 62-kWh powertrain and its unique e-Pedal with regenerative energy technology.

In a statement, Nissan AMIEO Region Vice President for Product Planning Marco Fioravanti said, “Since the model’s launch as the first mass-market electric vehicle in 2010, the Nissan Leaf has made sustainable, zero-emission mobility an attainable reality for hundreds of thousands of customers around the world.”

In parallel, Nissan AMIEO Region Senior Vice President for Research and Development Dave Moss stated, “The maximum five-star rating for the Leaf e+ awarded by Green NCAP is a powerful testament to the quality of the product, and the extensive expertise that Nissan has gained throughout a pioneering decade of innovation in electrification. I want to thank the whole Research and Development team which made this achievement possible.”

The Leaf e+, which represents the conclusion of 10 years of development for the Leaf, provides customers with a comprehensive mix of efficient electric power and advanced driver assistance systems.

Its 62kWh powertrain provides up to 385km of range under the WLTP combined cycle, while the groundbreaking e-Pedal allows driver the driver to accelerate, decelerate, and stop with just one pedal, maximizing efficiency while on the road.

The driver may further improve energy efficiency through the vehicle’s B Mode and Eco Mode, which work together to maximize regenerative braking, optimize power output, and preserve energy, giving them comfort and confidence even on long drives.
