Nissan pays homage to its roots, lets guests experience ‘omotenashi’ on CES 2020

MANILA: Nissan wants to pay tribute to its Japanese roots as it brings to life its future of mobility strategy at the CES 2020.

Nissan Motor Corp. wants to bring to life the future of cars by showcasing its zero-emission Ariya Concept car and an ice cream van that’s fully electric, at its booth during the CES 2020 at Las Vegas Nevada at it pays homage to its Japanese roots by showcasing Omotenashi.

Omonetashi is the Japanese word for hospitality. And Nissan wants you to experience the true Japanese hospitality through its immersive display that engages all of the five senses and demonstrate how vehicle technology can power and excite our lives.

One of the highlights of Nissan’s CES lineup is the Ariya concept EV that made its debut at the Las Vegas trade show. The Ariya EV looks very futuristic with its 21-inch aluminum wheels with custom tires; a low, streamlined roofline for aerodynamics, inclined raked C-pillar that combines naturally into a muscular rear deck.

Inside, the cabin trims and seats are wrapped in black synthetic leather coupled with copper-coloured aluminum accents that give the impression of utility and luxury. But what truly standout about the Ariya besides its aesthetically pleasing appearance is its embodiment of the three pillars of Nissan Intelligent Mobility – Intelligent Driving,

Intelligent Power, and Intelligent Integration that offers a new driving experience like no other. It’s driving assist technology, ProPILOT 2.0, makes driving even on rough terrains and unpredictable weather, safer through its intuitive technologies.

Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's senior vice president of global design, describes the Ariya concept EV as “a strong collaboration between design and engineering. It is the next stage of Nissan's future design language as we embark on a new era for the company – the next stage in our evolution.

” He also adds, “We wanted to ensure that the soul of every Nissan car possess a distinctive Japanese DNA conveyed in a simple-yet-powerfully modern way, something we call ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism.'”

The other highlight of Nissan’s booth for CES 2020 is the zero-emission ice cream van concept based on the e-NV200, the brand’s 100 percent electric light commercial vehicle (LCV). The concept LCV highlights how a zero-emission drivetrain, second-life battery storage, and renewable solar energy generation can work synergistically together to power a vehicle with zero carbon footprint.

It might seem counterintuitive to debut an ice cream van in winter, but the ice cream van concept is a partnership between Nissan and Mackie's of Scotland—a family-owned dairy cream company that only uses renewable energy, more specifically, wind and solar energy for its operations. Nissan’s ice cream van concept is part of the "Sky to Scoop" approach that will eliminate the dependence on carbon at every stage—from manufacturing to reaching out to the end consumers—of the ice cream journey.

Other concepts on display by Nissan that you could look forward to at the CES 2020 are the new Formula E race car, LEAF e+ electric vehicles, acoustic meta-materials that effectively muff sounds for a quiet and serene driving experience. Also, for golf enthusiasts, a self-sinking golf ball inspired by Nissan’s ProPILOT 2.0 advanced driver assistance technology that guarantees you’ll make your putt every time.

Experience the future of mobility for yourself at the CES 2020 when you visit Nissan at booth 6306 in the North Hall from January 7 to 10, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
