Nissan Z GT500 race cars join Top 5 finishers in 2023 Super GT Series

MANILA: Nissan Motor Corporation proudly announced that three Z GT500 race cars finished in the top five of 2023 Super GT Series.

The #3 Z ended the season in second place, the #23 Z placed third, and the #1 Z claimed the fifth spot.

Although Nissan was not able to achieve back-to-back title wins, it was still able to showcase the speed and power of the Z GT500.

Challenging weather conditions were experienced during the final round of the season held at the Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan on November 5. Despite that, the #23 Motul Autech Z helmed by Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli managed to finish second.

“The last 15 laps of my stint were tough and I was overtaken. However, I fought back by being fast in the rain and was able to close the gap with the top cars,” Matsuda said.

“It was a good race for the #23 Z to finish on the podium in second place and to take third in the championship,” Quintarelli added.

The #1 Marelli Impul Z driven by Kazuki Hiramine and Bertrand Baguette finished fourth, while the #3 Niterra Motul Z piloted by Katsumasa Chiyo and Mitsunori Takaboshi went off course in the closing laps and placed 13th.

Meanwhile, in the GT300 class, five GT-R Nismo GT3 cars competed. In the final round, the #56 Realize Nissan Mechanic Challenge GT-R finished sixth after starting the season in 24th. It placed third in the overall GT300 series standings.
