NLEX gears up for Holy Week, to reactivate SMSK initiative
Additional personnel and equipment will be deployed by the tollway company during the Holy Week
MANILA: The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation announced that it will be on full alert from March 22 to April 1.

According to NLEX, it will deploy additional personnel in high-volume areas of its expressways to manage traffic effectively.Per the tollway company, it is expecting a 10-percent increase in traffic volume during the Holy Week.
The surge of travelers heading north is anticipated starting 10 a.m. of March 27 until 2 p.m. of March 28. For Manila-bound vehicles, high-volume traffic is expected from 4 p.m to 11 p.m. of March 30 and from 2 p.m. of March 31 to 8 a.m. of April 1.
“We are encouraging our motorists to plan their trips well and travel during non-peak times to avoid possible delays caused by the influx of travelers,” NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista said.
NLEX Corporation also revealed that it will reactivate its “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” (SMSK) assistance program to ensure that motorists in need of help will get the aid they need as they head to the provinces during the annual exodus.
The toll firm will deploy additional personnel in high-volume areas of its expressways to manage traffic effectively. Incident response teams, tow trucks, and fire trucks will also be strategically stationed for immediate deployment when needed. Moreover, additional traffic signage will be installed to better guide motorists.
Free towing services to the nearest exit will also be available for Class 1 vehicles from 6 a.m. of March 22 until 6 a.m. of March 25, 6 a.m. of March 27 until 6 a.m. of March 29, and 6 a.m. of March 30 until 6 a.m. of April 1.
“As we expect a huge number of vehicles, we appeal to the public for extra patience, cooperation, and discipline. For our part, NLEX will maximize its assets to ensure managed traffic flow, but for a hassle-free travel, make sure that you are in good fit before you drive, observe proper distancing and follow traffic regulations. Also, have your cars and RFID checked ahead of your trip,” Bautista noted.
