NLEX-SCTEX begins work to improve lights and signs
MANILA: NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) Corporation is in the midst of upgrading all its roadway lights and signs along NLEX and SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) to improve visibility and increase the level of safety along its highways.
Old signs will be replaced with new, bigger ones using larger fonts to ensure they’re visible even at nighttime. Additional road markers will also be installed for improved visual navigation. Target completion is May 2020.
A total of 1,078 interchange and median LED lighting from NLEX Balintawak to Tabang will also be swapped out for units with higher illumination (20 lux from the previous 12 lux) to make the expressways brighter and easier to navigate.
“NLEX Corporation recognizes the importance of providing adequate lighting and appropriate road signs for safe and efficient expressway travel of our motorists,” Bautista said.
All the work being done covers both northbound and southbound directions of NLEX and SCTEX.
“With over 1,000 brighter lights and more than 600 new signs for installation, we are aiming to clearly, directly, and safely guide motorists to their destinations. These continuing enhancement efforts also stemmed from the suggestions of our customers through various touchpoints such as stakeholder consultations, dialogues, fora, surveys, and social media,” said NLEX Corporation president and general manager J. Luigi L. Bautista.
