MANILA: NLEX Corporation is further improving motorist experience by investing P282.5 million in new upgrades to its electronic toll collection and traffic management systems.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What upgrades will NLEX and SCTEX receive?

The projects include the installation of new RFID antennas and speed cameras as well as the upgrading of several servers.
  • What is the speed limit at SCTEX?

The speed limit is set at 80kph for trucks and buses and 100kph for cars and SUVs.
  • The projects, which include the installation of new radio frequency identification (RFID) antennas and speed cameras as well as the upgrading of several servers, are meant to improve the process of toll plaza transactions and the enforcement of traffic laws.

New antennas will be erected in about 80 toll lanes at NLEX for more efficient RFID transactions, and four speed cameras will be placed on the segments of SCTEX that are headed toward Tarlac and Subic to further detect speeding cars. The speed limit is set at 80kph for trucks and buses and 100kph for cars and SUVs. Traffic officers flag down drivers who exceed the speed limits using real-time data from the cameras. Some NLEX-SCTEX servers will also receive upgrades for better performance and dependability.
