NLEX to receive P282.5M worth of toll and traffic system upgrades
MANILA: NLEX Corporation is further improving motorist experience by investing P282.5 million in new upgrades to its electronic toll collection and traffic management systems.

New antennas will be erected in about 80 toll lanes at NLEX for more efficient RFID transactions, and four speed cameras will be placed on the segments of SCTEX that are headed toward Tarlac and Subic to further detect speeding cars. The speed limit is set at 80kph for trucks and buses and 100kph for cars and SUVs. Traffic officers flag down drivers who exceed the speed limits using real-time data from the cameras. Some NLEX-SCTEX servers will also receive upgrades for better performance and dependability.
“These enhancements are part of the company’s thrust in providing safer and more convenient journeys along with the drive for continuous innovation and customer service excellence,” NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi Bautista stated.
NLEX Corporation has been upgrading its systems and adding new technology to its facilities over the past two years to improve the quality of its service.
Aside from the software update and system migration that improved operating efficiency and customer experience at the toll plazas, NLEX-SCTEX upgraded almost 150 toll fare indicators, lane status indicators, traffic control gates, automatic vehicle classification devices, and loop detectors last year. NLEX Corporation also upgraded the network switches and repositioned the RFID antenna, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), contactless card readers.
