The benchmark-surpassing feat was made by OJ Chief Executive Officer Shawn Xu.In a statement, Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines (OJPH) Philippines announced that the Omoda 7 compact crossover will be offered in the local market.
No specific details (such as specifications and pricing) were shared yet about the soon-to-be-introduced model, but O and J Philippines stated that the marque's latest compact crossover was able to cover 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in an average time of 8.0 seconds — surpassing the official benchmark of 8.4 seconds.
The company noted that during the official test, OJ Chief Executive Officer Shawn Xu performed six acceleration sprints with temperature soaring above 76 degrees Celsius.
“In peak conditions, the vehicle can achieve 7.85 seconds acceleration time. These results not only highlight the Omoda 7's impressive power output but also affirm its reliability and efficiency under extreme heat, thanks to its advanced engine, battery management system, and cooling technology,” the company claimed.
Per Xu, the result “confirms that the Omoda 7 can still maintain non-attenuated power output as well as a stable and reliable performance under high-temperature conditions.”
“The high-temperature endurance test is just the beginning. The Omoda 7 will soon undergo further rigorous evaluations, including assessments of its pure electric cruising range and fuel consumption under power loss conditions in high temperatures. These upcoming tests aim to address mileage concerns and advance the development of efficient and eco-friendly solutions for new energy vehicles,” he added.
The said model made its global debut at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition last April 28.
To recall, the company is poised to sell the Omoda 5, its electric sport utility vehicle counterpart E5, as well as the Jaecoo J7 and J8. They were all displayed last April at the Manila International Auto Show 2024.
