Omoda E5 gets 5-star safety ratings from ANCAP, Euro NCAP

MANILA: The Omoda E5 has secured two five-star ratings in separate New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) for Europe and Australasia.

In a statement, the aforementioned product of Chery’s subsidiary received the highest rating under Euro NCAP and ANCAP standards.

For Euro NCAP, the Omoda E5 scored 87 percent for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 88 percent for Child Occupant Protection (COP), and 88 percent for Safety Assist (SA).

Under the ANCAP assessment, the same model got 87 percent for AOP, 88 percent for COP, and 83 percent for SA.

Per Omoda, the results are reflective of the “brand’s global automotive engineering DNA” noting that its body comes with 78-percent high-strength steel ratio — with important areas like the front end made up of ultra-high-strength steel in the front end while the side B-pillars and door sills, in reinforced steel.

“The front steel structure resists frontal collision impacts, safeguarding the cabin space, while the side structure disperses impact forces to prevent door intrusion,” the company noted.

The firm also stated that during the frontal crash test, the vehicle’s occupant compartment showed no significant deformation of the A-pillars or doors.

Further, the Omoda E5 features an ergonomically-designed child seat while its airbag system and vehicle stability optimize the trigger mechanism and protection range to enhance child passenger safety.

Additionally, the Omoda E5 also has various active safety technologies such as the autonomous emergency braking for vulnerable road users and safety assist.

Other features

Aside from its safety features, the Omoda E5 can cover 430 kilometers (km) sans the fumes (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure). During an efficiency test conducted by Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), the vehicle was able to do 435 km — surpassing its published range. Its battery can be juiced up from 30-80 percent in as fast as 28 minutes.

Meanwhile, highway wind noise can be as low as 62.9 decibels at 120 kilometers per hour.

To note, the Omoda E5 arrived in the country this year and is already offered for pre-orders. Priced at less than P1.8 million, Omoda Philippines shared that the model will be available in dealerships soon.
