MANILA: The reveal of Chinese automotive brands Omoda and Jaecoo in the Philippines will be conducted in April, a company executive confirmed.

The Philippine market will have the Omoda 5 (in internal-combustion and electrified powertrain options), as well as the Jaecoo 7 and 8.Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines Country Director Marco Chen told select members of the press that the brands shall have their unveiling at the at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) set on April 4-7.
The aforementioned move will likely be the marques’ first public appearance since they made the announcement last year about their supposed local launch.
To note, the country's highly-anticipated motor show will be held in two venues: World Trade Center and SMX Convention Center.
Chen shared that the supposed brand launches from the final quarter of the 2023 (which was their initial target) were moved to iron out issues that could affect its operations in the Philippines. This, he added, includes partnership with banks, dealerships, aftersales support, among others.
“We hope to prepare everything, the whole system, as we have plans here for the long term. We are not just here to sell our cars,” Chen told Zigwheels Philippines.
Aside from brand introduction, the Chery-owned brands will bring at least three nameplates to the country namely the Omoda 5 (in internal-combustion and electrified powertrain options), alongside the Jaecoo 7 and 8.
Without giving away exact figures, Chen assured during the virtual roundtable that the arriving vehicles will be priced competitively.
In October 2023, Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines already brought the initial batch of Omoda 5 vehicles that are expected to be utilized for pre-launch activities and previews.
Further, the company earlier announced that the Omoda 5 variants that will be retailed in the Philippines are the 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) entry-level model, the 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE top-spec grade, the Omoda 5 EV electric vehicle), and the Omoda 5 EV Extended Range (up to 450 kilometers).
