Omoda to launch new SUV next week

MANILA: Omoda will be launching a new sport utility vehicle (SUV) next week 

Per the Chery-owned Chinese car brand, the new SUV is dubbed Omoda 7. Compared to the Omoda 5, which made its debut here in the Philippines at the recently held Manila International Show 2024, the Omoda 7 will have larger dimensions and will be packed with more technological features.

A teaser photo was revealed that showcases the design language of the Omoda 7. Despite the heavy shadows, we were able to make out a few details thanks to minor editing.

It has a two-tone design with a black roof and pillars as well as black side mirrors. Below the sexy beltline are sharp and distinctive appointments like a sleek headlamp with what appears to be a modern-looking grille with hexagonal patterns, a set of two-tone wheels, and a pair of taillamps with a zigzag pattern.

As for its interior, we might expect large digital instrument clusters and infotainment screens since it is touted as a model that slots above the Omoda 5. Typical Chinese SUV appointments like a sunroof, wireless chargers, and synthetic leather could also be prominent features of the cabin.

In terms of its powertrain setup, the Omoda 7 could be powered by an internal combustion engine as there was no mention of a battery-electric system. However, the carmaker could release an all-electric version of the Omoda 7 similar to the Omoda 5, which is the E5.

“Omoda’s SUVs are known for their futuristic designs, enjoyable intelligent experiences, cutting-edge new energy technologies, and comprehensive safety features, making them highly competitive in the market and a popular choice among many young people,” Omoda wrote in a press release.

“The appearance of the new model undoubtedly becomes another significant highlight in the trend of global youth-oriented consumerism, leveraging the power of technology to propel Omoda to new heights,” it added.

The Omoda 7 will be unveiled at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The aforementioned Omoda E5 will also be present at the event.
