  • What are the other Polo Storico events that Lamborghini will organize as part of its 60th anniversary celebration?

A 60th anniversary Polo Storico Tour for classic Lamborghini cars is set for Italy in September as part of Lamborghini's anniversary celebration for Polo Storico.
  • The competition was held against the background of the rugged Engadine region around the Swiss town, and the one-off Miura P400 S “Millechiodi,” certified by Polo Storico, participated. The world's most exquisite historic cars took over the famous frozen lake for the weekend, giving up its use as a snow polo playing area.

“The ICE was a great opportunity for Polo Storico because it brings together leading international collectors and their extraordinary vintage cars in a breathtaking location. As Polo Storico, we are dedicated to preserving the history of our company and our cars by performing major restorations, as well as studying and officially certifying our cars of the past and helping our customers to fully enjoy the classic Lamborghinis they own,” Lamborghini Global After Sales Director Alessandro Farmeschi stated.

The Miura P400 S “Millechiodi” was a standout at the concours d'elegance. This vehicle is especially cherished by Lamborghini Polo Storico because of its unique history and because it has the growingly sought-after Certification of Historic Authentication, which Polo Storico awards to modified cars with a known past and historical significance. In November 1969, this example, a 1969 Miura P400 S with chassis number 4302, was painted Blu Notte (dark blue). After being owned by a number of Italians, it was acquired by Giovanni Sotgiu and Walter Ronchi in 1975. These two men are significant figures in Lamborghini history because, aside from running the “Lamborcar” dealership in Milan, they were also the first owners of Bob Wallace's Miura Jota.

The two rebuilt the 400 S, which was destroyed in an accident, to make it more racer-like, precisely in the concept of reconstructing the Jota. Their Miura, now finished in Verde Scuro (dark green), is ready after a massive investment. The body panels were attached with so many rivets that the name Millechiodi (a thousand nails) just naturally sprang to mind. The vehicle underwent restoration in 2018 and Lamborghini Polo Storico certification in 2020.

“The difficulty of certification related to this car had to do with its specific ‘deviation’ from the original specifications. Actually, since these were not just impromptu modifications but specific ones carried out at a very high level and well-defined within a historical period, it would have made no sense to bring it back to how it was when it was new,” Farmeschi said.

The Iron Dames team of female race drivers, who recently made their debut behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 at the 24 hours of Daytona, were invited as special guests to the Lamborghini Polo Storico events. In order to fully appreciate Lamborghini's historic first real “supercar,” Sarah Bovy, Rahel Frey, and Michelle Gatting had the chance to drive the Miura P400 SV on the ice at St. Moritz.
