More than 154 different types of Lego pieces were used. The two brands have a long-term partnership, and this project highlights their shared values: “brave, authentic, and unexpected.”
This life-size model recreates the innovative design of the limited-edition Italian sports car on a much larger scale. To ensure that the model accurately captures the futuristic elegance and reproduces the recognizable contour of the Lamborghini Sián, more than 154 different types of Lego pieces were used.
In a statement, Lego Group Senior Vice President of Products and Marketing Lena Dixen said, “Our designers love challenges, so you can imagine how delighted they were when we asked them to work on this model and look at things in a slightly bigger way than usual. They leaped at the chance to work with the incredible designers and engineers from our production workshop at the Kladno factory in the Czech Republic, who built these stunning full-scale models, and really pushed back the boundaries of what can be done with Lego Technic.”
The scale model's precisely scaled chassis is covered with made-to-measure hexagonal Lego Technic pieces that are interconnected to form a shell that is brimming with energy. The design pays homage to the six-sided shape that is fundamental to Lamborghini's strategy and is reminiscent of the Italian sports car's trademark hexagonal tail lights and exhaust design.
“After a wait of more than a year, the Lego Technic model of the Lamborghini Sián is going on show at Museo Automobili Lamborghini. It’s the natural place to display the Lamborghini super sports cars that have always given dreams and feelings concrete forms, thanks to innovation and technology. This 1:1 scale model of the Sián shows that Lamborghini — just like Lego Group — sees challenges as its lifeblood, technology as a means of creation, and design as a linchpin that can and must take people’s breath away,” Automobili Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini stated.
The exterior of the Lamborghini Sián has been replicated with meticulous attention to detail. In Bolognese dialect, the word Sián means lightning or a thunderbolt. The experts at the Lego Group emphasized this by creating hexagonal tail lights that actually switch on and off, as well as stylish thunderbolts that flash down the bodywork and lights that shine like the Y-shaped lights on the real vehicle.
On the inside, there is incredibly precise detailing, including a Lego brick steering wheel that is embellished with the Italian flag and the iconic Lamborghini badge, an instrument panel, and racing seats.
This is the Lego Group's first large-scale model to use paint-effect UV color treatment that will help the model last longer. The Lamborghini paint shop added the color to guarantee that the sports car had a fitting finish.
