MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines has revealed that up to P1 million worth of prizes are at stake in this year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup.
Aside from the title, the National Finals overall champion will take home a cash prize and a brand-new Sony PlayStation 5. The second and third placers will receive a high-end tablet and a sought-after gaming chair, respectively.
The finishers of the national rounds will get to share gaming gear and devices including a gaming steering wheel, portable gaming console, a high-definition gaming headset, and gaming monitors. Tablets, smart home devices, and portable action cameras also await the winning e-racers.
The winners of the Junior and Special racing categories will take home a gaming headset, a gaming mouse, a gaming drive shifter, and smart home devices.
Racers can earn as many points as possible by participating and re-qualifying in all rounds starting from April to June 2021. Interested players may still register for Round 2 with the Leaderboard race starting on May 28 and the Race Heat on May 29. The Round 3 Leaderboard Race will begin on June 18, while the Final Heat will be on the next day, June 19.
The more points accumulated gives the participant more chances of winning bigger and more exciting prizes. Interested participants may sign up in Sporting (professional), Promotional (non-professional), and Junior (17 years old and below) classes.
Toyota Gazoo Racing has organized the GR GT Cup to celebrate the rich motorsports history of Toyota Motor Philippines from the now famous Vios Cup. The Toyota GR GT Cup allows racers of any age to experience "waku doki" or the power of a thrill, without having to leave home.
In a statement, Toyota Motor Philippines Vice President for Marketing Services Elijah Marcial said, “We are eager to bring waku doki in Filipino homes, especially in these trying times where almost everyone is encouraged to stay safe at home. It is equally a wonderful time for emerging Filipino gamers and champions to hone their talent and win the GR GT Cup. We are excited to meet the fastest Filipino driver this year.”
Even beyond the limits of the pandemic, Toyota stays true to its commitment in providing the experience of waku doki for both professional and novice drivers through the GR GT Cup.
The races will be streamed at the official Facebook page of Toyota Motor Philippines at facebook.com/ToyotaMotorPhilippines. To see the full mechanics, log on to toyota.com.ph/gtcup.
