PH-bound Mitsubishi Triton Athlete gets price cut prior to launch date

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has given the forthcoming Triton’s prospective buyers more good news prior to its launch: the pricing of the Athlete variant has been trimmed down.

Contrary to what was previously announced, the pick-up truck offering's top-spec option will be offered for P1.909 million. The adjusted pricing is P6,000 more affordable compared to the P1.915-million price tag that was declared in October 2023.

All other variants of the upcoming vehicle (which will replace the Strada nameplate starting January 26) have been retained.

Below are the prices of the all-new Mitsubishi Triton's remaining six variations:

The all-new Mitsubishi Triton sports a square-shaped grille, new headlight design, and the famous Dynamic Shield Design, which gives the vehicle a bolder look — earning recognition from the Good Design Award 2023 from Japan Institute of Design Promotion.

Compared to the outgoing model, the soon-to-arrive offering features a larger bed, which is 2,340 millimeters (mm) long, 1,580 mm wide, and 515mm deep and lower bed floor height (821 mm) that assures easy loading and unloading of cargo.

MMPC also claimed that the vehicle is more comfortable than its predecessor as it comes with improved suspension design with new shock-absorption system and a roomier cabin.

Powering the soon-to-arrive Mitsubishi Triton is a 2.4-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that delivers as much as 201 horsepower and 470 Newton-meters of torque.

Its myriad of safety features, which helped it bag a five-star from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP), include the forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, and object detection — with the top-of-the-line version outfitted with the additional rear cross traffic alert and multi-around view monitor.

Further, the all-new Mitsubishi Triton shall be retailed in seven body color options namely White Diamond, Graphite Gray, Jet Black, Red Solid, White Solid, Yamabuki Orange, and Blade Silver.
