MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) could be reviving the Adventure nameplate at the upcoming 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Where could MMPC unveil the Mitsubishi Adventure?

MMPC could possibly unveil the new Mitsubishi Adventure at PIMS 2024.
  • What engine options did the Mitsubishi Adventure have when it was still in production?

While it was still in preoduction, the Mitsubishi Adventure was offered in both diesel and gasoline engine variants.
  • It’s no secret that the local wing of the Japanese carmaker will reveal “something unexpected” during what will be the marque’s first-ever global premiere in the country.

Per MMPC, the soon-to-be-revealed model will be a seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) concept that “embodies Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to provide fulfilling mobility lifestyles that awaken the adventurous spirit of drivers and provide excitement for everyone on board.”

While “adventurous” seems like a typical word to use for hyping up a concept car, the constant mentioning of “adventures” in MMPC’s social media posts seems like a suggestively strong hint of what to expect.

These include Facebook post captions such as:

    • “Get ready to witness the future of family ADVENTURES!”
    • “A new benchmark for family adventures.”

One photo even has the phrase “THE FUTURE OF FAMILY ADVENTURES” in it.

    Mitsubishi Adventure

The Mitsubishi Adventure has become a staple on Philippine roads, especially prior to its discontinuation.

Due to its reliability, it has been the choice of many Filipino families as well as transport service operators. It was offered in both gasoline and diesel variants, which gave both business-oriented car buyers as well as those looking for daily drivers fitting options.

For example, the 2005 Mitsubishi Adventure could be had with either a 2.4-liter diesel engine — that made 72 horsepower (hp) with 143 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque — or a 1.9-liter gasoline powerplant, that dished out 142 hp with 164 Nm.

Both engine options are mated to a five-speed manual transmission system.

Depending on the dealer — yes “dealer option” was a thing — those purchasing a Mitsubishi Adventure could get things like dual-air conditioning systems or in-dash CD players.

We’re excited to see what form will the Asian utility vehicle take when it crosses into the SUV segment. Guess we’ll have to see should the MMPC introduce a new iteration of the Mitsubishi Adventure at PIMS this month.
