Porsche accelerates ventures on electric bicycles
MANILA: Porsche intends to increase its involvement in the market for electric bikes. In order to do this, Porsche and the Dutch company Ponooc Investment recently launched two joint ventures.

The management team's selection reveals the significance of this collaborative endeavor to Porsche and Ponooc. Former Porsche Lifestyle CEO Jan Becker now serves as chairman of the board of directors for Porsche eBike Performance. Moritz Failenschmid, who is also the Managing Director at Focus Bikes, will be his counterpart at P2 eBike.
"We see great potential for Porsche in the eBike segment. This is why we are consistently expanding our activities in this area," Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Lutz Meschke said.
"As is characteristic of Porsche, it's all about developing products that inspire people through intelligent design, sophisticated technology and outstanding performance," Meschke added.
Porsche eBike Performance will create and manufacture exceptionally potent eBike drive systems under the Porsche brand in addition to small drive systems from Fazua.
Future distribution of both product categories will be made to eBike producers all around the world, with the recently established joint venture serving as a technical partner. Both Porsche eBikes and goods from other companies will use electric propulsion systems.
Porsche continues to collaborate on its current eBike models with its longtime partner, Rotwild. The Porsche eBike Sport and the Porsche eBike Cross were the company's first two electric bikes, which were introduced in March 2021.
Additionally, under the Cyklaer brand, Porsche Digital provides a platform for digital cycling services. The award-winning Cyklr Bike was created in collaboration with Fazua and Greyp, demonstrating the innovative potential of the new joint ventures.
