Porsche brings in final ICE-powered Cayenne in PH
Porsche has unveiled the new Cayenne in the Philippine market — the nameplate's "swan song" to internal combustion engine (ICE).
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the new Porsche Cayenne's powertrain options?
The new Porsche Cayenne comes in V6 mill and V8 engines. What are the new Porsche Cayenne's variants?
The new Porsche Cayenne is available in Cayenne and the Cayenne S (which come in sport utility vehicle and coupe body styles), and Cayenne Turbo GT (coupe). The newly-unveiled Philippine-spec Porsche Cayenne — which was introduced in time for its 27th anniversary celebration — is said to be the last of its kind that will be powered by an ICE before the model transitions to electrified mobility.
Powertrain
Making the version more special is that it has two powertrain options — an uprated V6 mill and the returning V8 engine — fitted in the new Porsche Cayenne’s five trims namely the Cayenne and the Cayenne S (which come in sport utility vehicle and coupe body styles), and Cayenne Turbo GT (coupe).
Powering the base option is the V6 engine that can deliver 353 horsepower (hp) and 500 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque — 13 hp and 50 Nm more compared to the previous model.
Meanwhile, the Cayenne S comes with a twin-turbo 4.0 V8 gasoline engine that can provide 474 horses and 600 Nm of pulling power while the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo GT’s twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine outputs up to 659 hp and 850 Nm of torque.
Exterior
Outside, the vehicle wears updated front and rear ends as emphasized in the new hood, grille, bumpers, and rear apron. Differentiating the Cayenne and Cayenne S from the Cayenne Turbo GT is the headlights— with the former being equipped with LED matrix version and the latter sporting HD matrix type.
At the rear of the vehicles are the new three-dimension strip tail light system.
Further, the vehicle boasts a highly digitized display and control concept, new chassis technology, and more innovative features.
The new Porsche Cayenne models have a two-chamber air suspension that helps sharpen the vehicle’s performance on pavement and off-road, as well as offers more differentiation between Normal, Sport and Sport Plus driving modes. The thicker tires matched to the suspension guarantee a smoother and more refined ride quality.
Interior
Inside, the vehicles’ cabins feature the Porsche Driver Experience layout — first seen in the purely-electric Taycan. With it, newly-revealed model’s frequently-used controls were placed on or beside the steering wheel — including the gear selector that is now on the dashboard.
The redesigned cockpit is also fitted with a curved, 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch central Porsche Communication Management display, and an optional 10.9-inch screen passenger display.
