The Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years uses a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission.Dubbed the "Porshe 911 Turbo 50 Years", the offering is limited to just 1,974 units. The said production number of the all-new variant is a nod to the year 1974 when the first-ever 911 Turbo model (Type 930) was introduced.
To make the said variant unique, the Stuttgart-headquartered car maker provided a base 911 Turbo S model with several unique exterior upgrades.
First off, the 911 Turbo 50 Years was made available with the German marque’s Turbonite paint, marking its first-ever appearance on a 911. Apart from the exterior, the new turbo-exclusive paint is likewise utilized to color the inlays of the sports car’s rear engine cover, its Porsche badge, and its fuel cap.
For more visual flair, the special version also received new side vinyl graphics as a tribute to the legendary 911 RSR Turbo race car. Furthermore, the rear wing, rear apron, mirror base, and air intake trims of the limited edition model were provided with an Anthracite Grey finish. The vehicle was likewise kitted out with unique LED door projectors, which feature the image of a turbocharger whenever the vehicle’s door is opened.
The interior of the 911 Turbo 50 Years, meanwhile, was designed to double down on the retro-inspired look through the application of McKenzie tartan materials on its seats, as well as interior door cards.
More of its interior, particularly its seat belts, control surfaces, and decorative stitching, were also clad in Turbonite. Plus, the vehicle received a wealth of “Turbo 50” logos all around its cabin, as well as a special aluminum anniversary plaque on its glove compartment.
The 911 Turbo 50 Years limited-edition model uses a 3.7-liter boxer engine equipped with a variable turbine geometry turbocharger. At maximum, it is capable of producing 641 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters of torque.
Porsche highlighted the vehicle’s notable zero to 100 kilometer per hour time of just 2.7 seconds. The said feat is achieved by the model thanks to a combination of an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and active all-wheel-drive traction management.
Agile handling for the 911 Turbo 50 Years is ensured by the German car maker’s Active Suspension Management System, which can lower the car by 10 millimeters. Stopping power for the vehicle, meanwhile, is provided by a set of Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.
For now, the price of the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years has yet to be disclosed by the brand. Otherwise, deliveries for the vehicle will start sometime in September-November this year.
