Porsche Design, Honor release new mobile phone

MANILA: Porsche Design and Honor has created the thinnest inward foldable mobile phone in the market.

Launched in China recently, the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR sports a bold design inspired by motorsports.

The flyline of the smartphone’s backside wears a pattern that resembles the hood of a Porsche 911 — the Stuttgart-headquartered marque’s iconic sports car.

In addition, the newly-unveiled mobile phone is painted in Agate Grey body paint (a famous color under Porsche.

Honor claimed that the Porsche Design Magic V2 RSR comes with an improved grip that “provides a sportscar experience in the user’s palm.”

Porsche Lifestyle Group Chairman of the Executive Board Stefan Buescher expressed that since the start of the partnership, the company has been waiting for the reveal of the jointly- developed smartphone.

“At Porsche Design, we want to bring the unique Porsche spirit and values to life through our products. Anyone who buys a Porsche Design item becomes part of the global Porsche family. Our goal is to transport this emotion as well as the progressive functionality, cutting-edge technology, and the unique design language to customers around the globe,” he said.

For his part, Honor Device Chief Executive Officer George Zhao noted that the two brands will jointly design the next generation of smart devices by “combining human-centric technology and functional design to create exciting products for global consumers” as they are united by a shared pursuit of excellence.

Aside from being outfitted with sports car aesthetics, the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR features an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for enhanced protection, giving the device an improved scratch resistance and the hardness rating of over seven on the Mohs scale.

While the phone is durable, the device only weighs 234 grams and is 9.9 millimeters thick.

Further, the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR has a foldable OLED (organic light-emitting diode) LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) that offers stunning optical experience. The screen has support for 1.07 billion colors to deliver vivid, accurate visuals. To reduce eye fatigue, the device has been incorporated with 3840-hertz pulse width modulation dimming, dynamic dimming and Circadian Night Display.

The mobile phone boasts a triple rear camera system — powered by the Honor Image Engine — made up of a 50-megapixel (MP) main camera with optimized image stability (OIS), a 20-MP telephoto lens with OIS, and a 50-MP ultra-wide camera. It also has a wide range of modes, including night, zoom, time-lapse, and motion-sensing capture.

Both its rear and front cameras support 4K resolution.

Moreover, the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR’s silicon-carbon battery can carry a total of 5,000 milliampere hours. The phone also supports a 66-watt Honor Wired Supercharge.
