Porsche details Le Mans and Nurburgring performance in new documentary
MANILA: If your need for speed is getting the better of you during this extended downtime period, fret not because Porsche has come to the rescue with a new documentary you can watch free on YouTube, and by subscription on Amazon Prime starting April 3, 2020.
The documentary, called “Endurance,” is a retelling of how Porsche, its teams, drivers, and people close to them prepared for last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans which happens back to back with the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. It is a 91-minute, 39-second extravaganza that shows a behind-the-scenes look at what happens as the brand, its racing team (engineers and team managers), the drivers, and their loved ones prepare for two of the most grueling and stressful endurance races known to man.
It is directed by James Routh, known for his award-winning work in the Formula 1 documentary “Drive to Survive.” Routh accompanied the team, technicians and drivers for 25 days — from Le Mans preparations to test drives in Italy and a private test day after the endurance race in Germany’s Eifel region.
Spectacular driving scenes in the documentary are enhanced by candid impressions from Porsche works drivers Kévin Estre (France), Michael Christensen (Denmark), Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) and Matt Campbell (Australia), and seasoned motor racing engineer Luca Massé (Italy).
Routh and the production team were able to capture the deprivation, stress, emotion and boundless dedication and passion of the team and each of its members. The vehicles used are the Porsche 911 RSR and the 911 GT3 R, both based on the high-performance 911 GT3 RS production vehicle.
