Porsche global sales up by 18% in Q1 of 2023

MANILA: Porsche has seen an 18% increase in sales in the first quarter of 2023, delivering 80,767 vehicles to customers worldwide.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • To which market did Porsche deliver the most number of units in the first quarter of 2023?

China recorded the most number of Porsche deliveries in the first quarter of 2023, selling 21,365 units.
  • What was the best-selling Porsche model in the first quarter of 2023?

Porsche Cayenne was the best-selling Porsche model in the first quarter of 2023, with 23,387 units sold.
  • “We are pleased with this outstanding result. It shows the strong demand for our products and the strength of our brand. It’s particularly pleasing that we were able to post gains in every sales region – in spite of the still volatile economic situation and limited parts availability,” Porsche AG Executive Board Member for Sales and Marketing Detlev von Platen stated.

Porsche delivered 18,420 vehicles in Europe in the first quarter, a rise of 14% compared to the same period in 2022. The number of vehicles sold in Germany, Porsche's home market, also increased to 8,247, a 19% rise. Porsche's largest single market, China, sold 21,365 units from January through March, a 21% increase from the same period last year.

Porsche sold 19,651 vehicles in North America, a 30% year-on-year increase. 13,084 cars were delivered to customers in overseas and emerging markets, 5% higher versus the same quarter in 2022.

Porsche customers continue to be heavily drawn to SUV models. Porsche Macan was the best-selling Porsche model in the first quarter of the year, with 23,880 units sold (+30%).

Increase in sales was also seen by the Porsche Cayenne, which recorded 23,387 deliveries (+23%); the iconic Porsche 911, which sold 11,063 units (+19%); the Porsche Panamera, which delivered 8,479 units (+10%); and the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman, which sold a total of 4,806 units (+6%).

9,152 units (-3%) of the all-electric Porsche Taycan were sold in the first quarter of 2023. The decline was caused by the ongoing supply shortages in the supplier sector, which are particularly affecting the electric sports car.

“Our focus is on value-oriented growth. We pursue the goal of always producing one vehicle less than the market demands. The good start makes us confident for the rest of the year. At the same time, we remain vigilant and flexible in an environment that remains challenging,” von Platen added.
