Portion of Ninoy Aquino Avenue to be closed tonight

MANILA: A portion of Ninoy Aquino Avenue near Imelda Bridge in Parañaque City will be closed tonight at 6 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. for the construction of the Ninoy Aquino Station of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has set alternative routes for motorists who will be affected by the temporary closure. Northbound vehicles may take a right turn to Old Sucat Road to C5 Extension Road, Multinational Ninoy Aquino Avenue (near Duty-Free), and turn left to take Kabihasnan  or Victor Medina Street and to Quirino Avenue or Cavitex Coastal Road.

Southbound vehicles may turn left to Multinational C5 Extension Road, AMVEL Ninoy Aquino Avenue or left to Multinational C5 Extension Road, Old Sucat Road exit and take a U-turn at Palanyag. They may also take Quirino Avenue, Kabihasnan, and then to Ninoy Aquino Avenue.

The LRT-1 Cavite Extension project will extend the LRT-1 from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite. In July, DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez announced that the project was 69% complete.

According to Usec. Chavez, 122 trains and around 24 rolling stock for the project are ready, and all stations have been developed except in Las Piñas and Bacoor.
