Pump price update: Gas, diesel, and kerosene down
MANILA: Fuel companies declared a reduction in oil prices effective today.
In separate announcements, Shell, Seaoil, Petro Gazz, Total, Phoenix Petroleum, PTT Philippines, Flying V, Petron, Cleanfuel, and Chevron (Caltex) stated that diesel and gasoline prices have dipped by P0.30 per liter and P0.25 per liter, respectively.
Shell, Seaoil, Flying V, Petron, and Chevron also announced the rollback of kerosene prices by P0.15 per liter.
As for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), prices inched up this month.
Last August 1, Phoenix LPG Philippines Inc. confirmed an increase of P0.15 per kilogram for the Phoenix Super LPG.
Petron also announced the same increase of P0.15 per kilogram on its LPG product. As for AutoLPG, a price hike of P0.10 per liter was implemented.
Meanwhile, Solane-branded LPG went up by P0.13 per kilogram exclusive of value-added tax (VAT).
This shows a rise of up to P1.65 for a regular 11kg. LPG cylinder.
As Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Metro Manila are placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) beginning today, Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi ensured the public regarding continuity of the energy sector’s services such as the supply of petroleum products and power in all areas of the country.
Cusi also added that the DOE will make sure that the industry backliners can safely work for the operation of gas stations, grids, and plants.
The changes in oil prices also reflect movements in the international oil market. As of August 3, West Texas Intermediate and Brent Crude markets continuously go back and forth in a substantially tight range.
