Ram unveils all-electric Promaster van

MANILA: Ram has unveiled the new Promaster Electric Van (EV) with a targeted range of up to 260 kilometers in city driving.

The Promaster EV will be offered in two configurations: a delivery model and a cargo model that will be available in 12- and 13-foot cargo length variants.

According to Ram Chief Executive Officer Tim Kuniskis, the launch of the Promaster EV is another significant milestone in the brand’s electrification journey.

“Ram’s first available electric vehicle is a game-changer, offering commercial customers, large and small, the ultimate van in zero-emissions performance, commercial capability and advanced technology,” Kuniskis stated.

The new Promaster EV is part of Ram’s contribution to Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategy, which aims to provide innovative, safe, environmentally friendly, and affordable mobility solutions.
Stellantis is investing over €30 billion on electrification and software through 2025 as part of the strategy in order to meet the customer demand for battery electric vehicles.

The Promaster EV comes standard with a 110-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a 200-kilowatt electric drive module that produces 268 horsepower and 409 Newton-meters of torque.

Based on the Promaster architecture, the all-electric van features a unibody design that incorporates the battery pack efficiently. Because the battery of the Promaster EV is located under the floor in the middle of the vehicle, the cargo volume remains the same as in internal combustion engine-powered vehicles while the floor remains flat.

The cargo version has a payload capacity of 1,369 kilograms (kg), while the delivery version offers 920 kg of payload.

Inside, the Promaster EV is equipped with a 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen. The Uconnect 5 system is five times faster than the previous version, featuring Wi-Fi capability and the option to create up to five user profiles. It can continuously update and offer new content and features.

The van also comes with advanced safety technologies such as full-speed forward collision warning, crosswind assist, post-collision braking, drowsiness detection, traffic sign information, auto high-beams, rear parking sensor, and 360-degree surround-view camera.

Customers may also opt to add the Active Driving Assist feature, which provides Level 2 automated driving capability.
