Ranger, Territory boost Ford PH sales in 2020
MANILA: Ford Philippines recently reinforced its leadership in the small SUV and pickup categories with the strong sales of the Ford Territory and Ford Ranger in 2020.
The Ford Ranger secured a 4x4 pickup market share of 41%, making it the best-selling pickup of its kind in the country.
The 2020 total of the Ranger's 4x4 pickup is 5,093 vehicles, accounting for 52% of 9,767 Ranger sold.
This boosted the overall market share of Ford in the pickup category to 24%, while securing the Ranger’s spot as one of the two best-selling pickups in the automotive market for 2020.
To date, Ford has rolled out a 4x4 trim for the Ranger Wildtrak, FX4, and XLS, which also includes the Ranger Raptor. It continuously caters to the budget, lifestyles, and various needs of its expanding truck customer base.
In 2020, Ford Philippines made its truck range more extensive with the debut of the new Ranger FX4 and a 4x4 variant. This further broadened the look of the Ranger among customers looking for a reliable and robust pickup.
Through the 4x4 variants, customers can go through rough terrain and drive amid challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, Ford made a promising return in the small SUV category last year with the introduction of the all-new Ford Territory.
Its full-year sales totaled 1,925 vehicles, or a 33% share in the small SUV category within a selling period of five months.
The Ford-designed-and-developed SUV further strengthens the SUV range of Ford as it matches the lifestyles and needs of young professionals and start-up families with its trendy and sleek appeal, driver-assist features, and remarkable performance that improve the SUV driving experience.
Last year, Ford further extended its presence in the pickup and SUV categories nationwide through the debut of the F-150 full-size pickup, Everest Sport, and Everest Trend to handle the needs of a wide range of Filipinos.
With market demand for vehicles increasing toward the end of 2020, fourth-quarter sales went up by 36% from the previous quarter to 5,411 vehicles — for a total of 14,775 units.
December was considered the second best-selling month of 2020 with sales increasing by 30% relative to the previous month with 1,847 vehicles.
Ford Philippines PK Umashankar Managing Director said, “We thank our customers for their trust to the Ford brand amid a challenging year brought about by the pandemic. The continued demand for Ford vehicles in the country further drives us to bring segment-leading vehicles that are relevant to the needs of the Filipino driving public, now and in the future.”
