Refreshed Nissan Almera: Enhanced Features, Engine Options, and Pricing in the Philippines

MANILA - Nissan Philippines (NPI) has unveiled the refreshed edition of its subcompact sedan, the Almera, in the local market. The upgraded model comes with a range of enhancements. This comes just a few months after the model was launched in neighboring Thailand.

The front fascia of the new Almera presents a redesigned look, featuring horizontal slats on the V-Motion grille instead of the previous chrome and gloss-black plastic trims and mesh pattern. However, the rear end remains unchanged.

Inside the vehicle, the cabin remains largely the same, but customers now have the option of a two-tone finish depending on the variant. Noteworthy technological additions include Android Auto compatibility for the head unit, a new tire-pressure monitoring system, and a lane-departure warning system.

The 2024 Almera retains its power from a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine known as HRA0. This engine delivers around 100 hp and 152 Nm of torque. It is paired with an Xtronic CVT transmission that powers the front wheels. Much like the pre-facelifted model, there is a 5-speed manual version available, which offers a higher torque output of 160 Nm with the same horsepower rating. A notable addition to the 2024 Almera is the inclusion of cruise control, exclusive to the CVT variant, which was missing in the pre-facelifted version.

The Almera in the Philippines now comes equipped with Nissan Connect Services. This latest feature is accessible on both iOS and Android devices, enabling users to establish a remote connection with their vehicle and conduct various checks. These checks encompass theft alerts, reports on the vehicle's health, remote engine start/stop, maintenance alerts and reminders, remote horn and light control, speed alerts, and the convenient MyCar Finder feature. Moreover, in the unfortunate event of a collision or accident, Nissan Connect Services include automatic collision notification and an emergency call button for immediate assistance.

The pricing for the new Almera starts at P839,000 for the base EL MT variant. Furthermore, each purchase of the Almera includes a three-year subscription to Nissan Connect Services. Interestingly, there is a 5-year warranty which is exclusive to the Nissan Almera VL variant. Complete pricing is as follows:

- Nissan Almera 1.0 EL Turbo MT – P839,000
- Nissan Almera 1.0L VE Turbo CVT – P1,059,000
- Nissan Almera 1.0 VL Turbo CVT – P1,149,000

With the all-new generation Toyota Vios looming over the horizon, NPI needs a winner in their hands to handle the very lucrative but much-overlooked subcompact sedan segment.
