Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance sold 10.76 million units in 2018
MANILA: Leaving behind major players like Toyota and VW group, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance topped the global sales charts after it ended up trading 10.76 million vehicles throughout the year 2018. The numbers are more remarkable as the alliance made it happen in difficult circumstances when their CEO Carlos Ghosn was arrested.
In the total of 10,756,875 units sold, several vehicles like cars, trucks, buses, and SUVs found homes around the world. It is to be noted that the likes of Nissan Navara & Terra, Renault Clio & Captur, and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross & Strada were the key sold outs. The alliance credited the mentioned autos as much as they deserved to be appreciated.
While the total sales by Nissan saw a decline of 2.8 %, the brand still managed to sell 5,653,683 units. Renault, the second member, grew 3.2 % by selling 3,884,295 vehicles worldwide during the period 12 months. On the other hand, Mitsubishi sold the least number of automobiles at 1,218,897 units.
However, this number is a whole 18.3 % more than the total sales Mitsubishi recorded in the year 2017. The sales achieved by subsidiaries like Alpine, Infiniti, Datsun, and Dacia is also included in the total sales of 10,756,875 units.
689,788 Renault cars were sold by the brand in its homeland France. Nissan, on the other hand, sold 1,563,986 units in China, including the trades done by the brand Venucia. Talking about Mitsubishi, the brand found high success in Indonesia with 146,805 sales. The Philippines ranked 7th in terms of Mitsubishi’s global sales.
We recently covered a similar story about Toyota Group global sales in the year 2018 and the numbers are not too far behind the numbers of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. The two groups are certainly going to battle hard in 2019 to leave the other behind.
