Renault Reveals Alaskan Concept Pickup
MANILA: French Automaker Renault is all set to make its entry into the global pickup market with the Alaskan Concept. It is similar to Duster Oroch which was Renault's first pick-up. Duster Oroch was launched last June in Sao Paola for the South American Market. With the evolution in the global pick-up market, Renault is eager to grow its empire with alliance partner Nissan. Nissan Navara NP300 is already doing good business in the global pick-up market. Renault will also partner with Mercedes-Benz Pickup via Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The Alaskan Concept holds a tough body with cutting-edge modern styling. It is preferred for both business and lifestyle pickup users. The Concept comes with more chiselled body panels and the design outline might look similar to the Navara. The large front grille with Renault logo gives it a muscular look. Both head and tail lamps come with elegant looking LED lights with 21-inch premium wheels.
Under the hood, Alaskan Concept is mounted with a 2.3-liter twin turbo diesel inline-4 engine inspired from the Master Van with a maximum power output of 163 PS and a peak torque of 360 Nm. The engine shall comply either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The exact performance figures are yet to be revealed by Renault.
Renault has also partnered with a Swedish photo company Hasselblad to target different uses- business, leisure and everyday motoring. The company claims that the new Alaskan Concept will join the high-end pickup segment by early 2016.
