Rolls-Royce collaborates with Dubai-based artist Sacha Jafri for ‘The Six Elements’ Phantom

MANILA: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Dubai and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Abu Dhabi collaborated with Dubai-based British contemporary artist Sacha Jafri for “The Six Elements” Phantom.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the six elements featured on Rolls-Royce The Six Elements Phantom?

Each of these six one-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II motor cars will have a unique Sacha Jafri Gallery inspired by one of the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Air), with Humanity serving as the sixth element.
  • Who is Sacha Jafri?

Sacha Jafri is a Dubai-based British contemporary artist who is known for making Journey of Humanity, the largest painting ever done on canvas, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Each of these six one-off Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II motor cars will have a unique Sacha Jafri Gallery inspired by one of the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Air), with Humanity serving as the “sixth element.” The project's declared goal is to raise $1 million for charity, with the organizations involved to be revealed later this year. The chosen recipients will be humanity-centric, spanning three sectors: health, education, and sustainability.

“Raw elemental power, encapsulated within pure artistic expression. ‘The Six Elements’ elevates the nascent legacy of the Phantom Gallery, commissioning an artist of utmost acclaim to distill the most potent components of nature: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Air – alongside a ‘sixth element’: Humanity – within the best car in the world,” Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East and Africa Regional Director Cesar Habib said.

Jafri was chosen for his unique vision, style, and use of color.  The idea behind including Humanity as an element expands on the five traditional elements that are central to the artist's works. The underlying message is that we must achieve harmony within ourselves and bring back humanity to the world.

For Jafri, each of the elements conjures different feelings, spirits, energies, and purposes.  Fire is a symbol of passion and conviction. Earth, a representation of roots and a sense of grounding, counterbalances fire. Air  is essential to life as it enables humans to breathe. Water promotes lyricism and fluidity, while wind increases sentiments of freedom. Humanity brings love and the linking of souls.

“The six Rolls-Royce Phantoms will embody the emotion of each elemental force. The artistic journey begins and ends with emotion and intention, fuelling my inspiration to create the color palette of the ‘Six Elements’. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Air are enhanced by the addition of a ‘new element’, Humanity – the very essence of life itself,” Jafri stated.

Jafri is famous for making Journey of Humanity, the largest painting ever done on canvas, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His works have been displayed in the world's most prestigious art institutions. The artist is dubbed The Pioneer of Magical Realism and the True Zeitgeist of this century, bringing painting with unfiltered emotions back to the frontline of the art community.  Jafri's work serves as an electric shock to the senses by reawakening the child in everyone.

His recent works honor the accomplishments of prominent figures like President Barack Obama, David Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson, Nelson Mandela, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. One of the most well-known living artists, Jafri has donated more than $140 million to charities all around the world through the sale of his artworks.

“Phantom ‘The Six Elements’ is an idea that was born during an inspiring phone call between Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa and the boundary-pushing creativity of Sacha Jafri,” Habib said. “Through the collaboration between the Rolls-Royce dealer partners in the UAE and a contemporary artist beyond compare, art and craftsmanship have converged into a deeper, breathless expression of matter and meaning.”

The Rolls-Royce Phantom “The Six Elements” motor cars will include a unique digital element. Rolls-Royce is introducing its “The Rolls-Royce That Keeps on Giving” NFT project, which has six unique flythrough animations.

A royalty of 20% will be given to the selected charity for each trade of any of the six NFTs. The six one-off NFTs are connected to each of the six Phantoms, but owners are allowed to sell their NFT separately. Each Phantom Series II will have one of these NFTs placed in the glove box, allowing each of the six owners to view their NFT experience while driving.

“We understand that Rolls-Royce motor cars are designed for the few, but we are mindful of the many. That’s why Phantom ‘The Six Elements’ will raise $1 million for charity. Beyond that goal, the six utterly unique Phantoms will keep on giving beyond the initial charitable donation, thanks to a unique NFT initiative, providing even more value for the cause,” Habib stated.

The eighth generation of Rolls-Royce Phantom was launched in 2017. The requests of the clients, who pleaded with Rolls-Royce not to make any significant changes to an already legendary motor car, served as the basis for the Phantom Series II. Only the slightest design tweaks, embellishments, and modifications have been made in response to these client requests. Phantom Series II actually focuses on what needs to be preserved rather than what needs to be changed.

The Gallery, Rolls-Royce's exceptional artwork within a canvas, is fully exclusive to Phantom. It is a  seamless glass enclosure that runs the entire length of the fascia and was designed to display bespoke creations. “The Six Elements” Phantom Series II motor cars were created at the Home of Rolls-Royce using Jafri's hand-painted galleries as inspiration.

“Rolls-Royce is a brand of intention, excellence, power, detail and passion – a brand that has been on a similar journey to my own. It has set new levels of achievement, with pioneering accolades yet to be surpassed. By embracing empathy, we are able to reconnect the spirit of our world, in connection with our Elements and the souls of not only the individual, but of the very idea of universal consciousness,” Jafri stated. “We are embarking on a journey that aims to continuously fulfil those values, keeping our intentions pure and driven, eternally. This commission is indicative of these principles, not only incorporating art for the sake of aesthetic inspiration, but also a nurturing of the soul, an uplifting of the spirit, and the embodiment of a true charitable cause.”
