Rolls-Royce witness best sales charts in 116 years
MANILA: Rolls-Royce is a niche car brand that sells a rather limited number of units every year. While auto giants like Toyota and others trade over millions of vehicles throughout a year, Rolls-Royce returns home happy seeing a few thousands of its cars sold. So much so that even a huge 25% increase in the total sales figures means only 1,100 more cars sold.
Yes, you read that just right. Rolls-Royce sold 1,100 more units in 2019 than the previous year and accounted for a 25% increase in sales. Thanks to the increased sales, the British luxury carmaker traded 5,152 cars in 2019 and set a new sales record surpassing 116-year old stats. The top buyer remained to be America where Roll-Royce sold one-third of the total units.
Moving on, China, Russia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Qatar, Korea, and Malaysia also saw increases in sales. Also, the newly launched Cullinan contributed heavily to the increased sales figures as it enabled the automaker to attract more buyers from a new segment.
"This performance is of an altogether different magnitude to any previous year’s sales success. While we celebrate these remarkable results we are conscious of our key promise to our customers, to keep our brand rare and exclusive. We are pleased and proud to have delivered growth of 25% in 2019. Worldwide demand last year for our Cullinan SUV has driven this success and is expected to stabilise in 2020.
It is a ringing testament to the quality and integrity of our products, the faith and passion of our customers and, above all, the skill, dedication and determination of our exceptional team at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood and around the world and our dedicated global dealer network", said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Currently, Rolls-Royce operates in 50 countries with 135 functional dealerships. Also, the British automaker recently created 50 new job opportunities to meet the growing demand. "There is no other company like Rolls-Royce Motor Cars: we are all conscious of what a privilege it is to design, build and deliver the best car in the world for our customers. personally, I continue to feel honoured and humbled to have led this great company for the past decade", added Müller-Ötvös.
