MANILA: The Scuderia Ferrari HP Formula 1 team has signed two former Mercedes AMG F1 members — Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio.

Serra was former Performance Director while d’Ambrosio was former Young Driver Program Head at Mercedes-Benz’s race outfit. The former will take on the role of Head of Chassis Performance Engineering while the latter will become Deputy Team Principal in the Italian Formula 1 crew.

To note, Serra and d’Ambrosio were not the only Mercedes AMG F1 to jump ship. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton announced his move to drive for Scuderia Ferrari HP next season not too long ago.

Serra will report directly to Enrico Cardile and will oversee various areas in Ferrari’s Maranello facility, including Track Engineering, Aero Development, Aero Operations, and Vehicle Performance. He was born in France and has received a degree in mechanical engineering after studying in Aix-en-Provence and Paris.

Prior to joining Mercedes, Serra worked with Michelin and the BMW-Sauber Formula 1 team.

Meanwhile, d’Ambrosio will report directly to Scuderia Ferrari HP Team Principal Fred Vasseur. Apart from his role as Deputy Team Principal, he will also be assigned the task of leading the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, the prancing horse’s young driver program.

Born in Belgium, d’Ambrosio became a professional race driver and actively competed until 2020. His victories include a win in GP2 and three in Formula E. He also drove in 20 Formula 1 Grands Prix from 2011 to 2012.

At Mercedes, he worked alongside Team Principal Toto Wolff.

Serra and d’Ambrosio will both start working with Scuderia Ferrari HP on October 1, 2024.
