Shell partnered with Ortigas Land Corporation to install charging stations inside malls. The installation of the charging facilities inside the three shopping malls was made in partnership with Ortigas Land Corporation (OLC).
According to the fuel company, the aforementioned charging locations complement the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations located on the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union (TPLEX) Expressway and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
“Energy transition is a shared responsibility, it thus needs to be a collaborative effort among all industry players, from government agencies to EV manufacturers and dealers to charging station operators, land developers, and even consumers. We all need to do our part to transition to clean energy to help the country achieve the aspired Net Zero Emissions,” Pasig City’s Attorney Diego Santiago said during the ribbon cutting of the Estancia site.
Meanwhile, Ortigas Malls Head and Vice President Renee Bacani said OLC embraces technology and embraces the opportunity to put Shell Recharge EV Charging Stations in its malls.
“Shell’s global expertise in EV charging solutions makes it a logical choice to partner with in this endeavor. By serving and enabling socially responsible mall customers in their responsible life choices, OLC is not just charging e-vehicles, OLC is contributing to a movement towards cleaner air, reduced carbon emissions, and a healthier planet for future generations,” she noted.
With the opening of the three mall-based Shell EV charging stations, the company’s network has grown to six sites. The other three are in Shell Rosario and La Union in TPLEX as well as in Shell Mamplasan in SLEX.
The three new sites have been strategically located to service EV owners in the National Capital Region as well as those living in adjacent provinces.
“With the rising demand for EV charging solutions, we are happy to work with partners both from the public and private sectors to scale this sustainably for the Filipino driver. Our partnership with Ortigas Land is one example of how shared values across industries will make this possible,” Shell E-Mobility, Vehicle Care, Convenience Retail, Business Alliances Head Jolo Valdez explained.
