Similar looks, new features: Updated 2023 Honda City launches in India
MANILA: Around three years ago, the current Honda City had its international debut. According to Honda's product life cycles, this subcompact sedan is in need of a minor update. The Japanese manufacturer has therefore done just that for 2023.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the new safety features included in the 2023 Honda City?
Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation warning, and lead car departure warning, are included with the Honda Sensing bundle. What is the new powertrain fitted to the 2023 Honda City?
A hybrid option is also available; it has a total system output of 153Nm of torque and 124 horsepower. The non-hybrid variants still have the same six-speed manual or CVT transmission choices.2023 Honda City Exterior Facelift
The 2023 Honda City's visual improvements are limited to its bumpers, grille, wheel designs, and new color possibilities as a result of this modest model revision.
The corners of the front bumpers have been rounded off, and the grille's new pattern adopts a design cue from the all-new Civic. The thinner chrome accent piece only gives the new grille the appearance of being larger. The bumper at the back gains a diffuser and sharper corners.
2023 Honda City Interior Update
The interior of the 2023 Honda City resembles the pre-update model essentially in the same way as the exterior. Higher-spec versions, however, receive a redesigned instrument cluster. The partially digital Civic V display is modified so that it can show the driver more data. The same cluster is given to lower-spec models as before. The tan inside is probably exclusive to the South African and Indian markets.
2023 Honda City's Honda Sensing
The car's design was not significantly altered by Honda, but it did receive a significant upgrade in terms of amenities and technology. Higher trim levels, for instance, add wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new reverse camera, and even rain-sensing wipers. They also add the intelligent LaneWatch system.
But, the addition of Honda Sensing is the most important change here. Yes, the brand's active safety suite is now standard on even the 2023 Honda City, at least on the top models. Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation warning, and lead car departure warning, are included with the Honda Sensing bundle.
It is interesting to note that the petrol models continue to use drum brakes, while the hybrid version has disc brakes at the back.
2023 Honda City Powertrain
The powertrain of the Honda City will remain the same in 2023. It continues to use the well-known 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine, producing 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. A hybrid option is also available; it has a total system output of 153Nm of torque and 124 horsepower. The non-hybrid variants still have the same six-speed manual or CVT transmission choices.
The local debut of the 2023 Honda City has not yet been announced. Yet, given that it is still a well-liked option in the nation, Honda Cars Philippines will likely bring it here as soon as possible.
