SsangYong Musso price and specification revealed at 2018 PIMS

MANILA: The latest Korean pickup, SsangYong Musso, is gearing up for the midsize-pickup war. It made its debut at the Philippine International Motor Show 2018. SsangYong Philippines announced earlier this year that the Musso would be brought in the local auto market but maintained silence on any further details. Now, the specifications and price details are no more a mystery.

The SsangYong Musso will hit the dealership across the country tagged with a suggested retail price of P1,495,000. As it is a pickup truck, hopefully, the price figure was not much impacted by extra excise taxes.

This class-leading pickup was previously available in its SUV avatar only in the Philippines auto market. The SUV version was powered by a 2.2-litre, 2157 cc diesel mill that offered a maximum output of 178 hp and peak torque of 420 Nm. The SUV came with an array of safety, comfort, and convenience features that contributed to its popularity in the local market. It was available in multiple color options that include Atlantic Blue, Maroon Brown, Fine Silver etc. to name a few.

Now, this robust pickup truck draws its power from the same 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel powertrain with an improved power output of 181 hp at 4,000 rpm and peak torque reading 420 Nm at 1,400-2,800 rpm. The engine will come equipped with a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. The automaker confirmed that at present the Musso will feature only a 4x2 drivetrain that will deliver the power to the truck’s front or rear-wheel axle. The rear suspension happens to be a five-link setup.

As far as the interior is concerned, the seats are enveloped with brown Nappa leather. Both the back as well as the front seats will enjoy the heating facility and the front seats have the necessary arrangement for appropriate ventilation. The passengers who will be sitting in the second row can recline it by up to 27 degrees. Ample features have been provided to ensure that the passengers stay entertained, including Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
