Subaru WRX STI S209 teased ahead of its Detroit Auto Show debut
MANILA: Subaru has teased the WRX STI S209 again just a few days before of its launch at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. It used Twitter to release an image of the vehicle, following the teaser video that made its way a few days back.
The image provides a clear view of its front fascia. Two similar looking canards are placed on the lower bumper. A gigantic wing is featured at the rear. The bulging wheel arches can also be seen in the image.
However, the carmaker has not revealed the specification of the WRX STI S209 yet. The new sedan is expected to get more power. The Subaru S208, its predecessor, could make around 324 hp power along with a peak torque 433 Nm.
The S208 was a limited edition vehicle and only 450 units had been made. It also got the custom cooling system, which could be controlled by a paddle. The paddle was mounted on the steering wheel and was used to spray water to the intercooler.
Also, there are some other equipment, like adjustable suspension setup on the front as well as the rear, drilled rotors, Brembo callipers, different subframe, and a lot more.
The US-spec Subaru WRX STI S209 will get a wide array of tweaks, but the enthusiastic people will need to wait until 14th January.
The automaker also launched a regional special edition in South Africa, known as the ‘Diamond Edition’. It is capable of churning out a maximum of 354 hp power, which makes it the most powerful WRX STI. So, it will be pretty interesting to see whether the brand new S209 matches the power output or not.
