Suzuki achieves 25-M domestic sales in India

MANILA: This January 2023, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation in India, reached the historically significant milestone of 25 million total Indian domestic sales.

In 1982, Suzuki and Maruti Udyog, the company that would later become Maruti Suzuki, agreed to form a joint venture. In December 1983, Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first vehicle, the Maruti 800. Since then, the firm has been offering automobiles to satisfy shifting mobility needs and, working closely with Indian consumers, has launched iconic models like the Alto, WagonR, and Swift.

There are currently 17 models made and sold in India, and Maruti Suzuki is expanding its lineup to include the recently popular SUV types as well as hybrid and CNG cars. A total of almost 2.1 million hybrid and CNG vehicle units have been produced.

Maruti Suzuki will continue to build a network that customers continue to pick with its enlarged sales and servicing network in India, which now includes over 3,500 new car sales locations.

In the Auto Expo 2023 in India, Maruti Suzuki made a big launch. The 2023 Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV concept has been unveiled by the biggest automaker in the nation. This model, which will debut the automaker's first entirely electric vehicle in India in 2025, is significant, as reported by ZigWheels India.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX concept SUV would be built on a brand-new, specifically designed chassis for electric vehicles. The automaker has stated that it will be propelled by a dual electric motor configuration with a 60kWh battery pack, however the exact technical details are still unknown. Our Indian counterpart reported that the vehicle will feature a four-wheel drivetrain with a claimed range of 550 kilometers.

At the Auto Expo 2023, the brand-new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door and Suzuki Fronx were also introduced.

Beginning this year, Maruti Suzuki will sell the all-new Jimny 5-Door and the all-new Fronx. With these, Maruti Suzuki's SUV lineup will include four models, providing customers with more options in India's quickly growing SUV industry.

The Jimny 5-Door and Fronx are slated for export to Latin American and African markets.

The year 2018 saw the start of the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny's manufacture and sales in Japan, followed by exports to places like Europe and Oceania. Customer reviews of the Suzuki Jimny have been favorable all around the world. Suzuki Jimny production started in India in November 2020, with an exclusive concentration on exports to continents like Latin America and Africa.

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door has a 2,590mm wheelbase and measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. It has a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that is coupled to either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission to provide power.

On the other hand, the all-new Suzuki Fronx is a new-genre SUV with a small, manageable body and a sporty coupe design. The huge, noticeable front grille and the front and rear design, which emphasize side expansion, are symbols of an SUV's dominating and dominant presence.

The dynamic coupe style that slopes towards the rear accentuates a flowing and stretchy proportion. For comfort and convenience, it has adopted cutting-edge technologies including a 360-degree camera, head-up display, wireless charger, and rear-seat air conditioning vents, in addition to a high-quality interior that effectively utilizes available space.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Philippines Inc (SPH) was the fifth best-selling carmaker in 2022 with 19,942 sold units, according to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). In total, the nation's vehicle sales increased by 31.3 percent in 2022 to 352,596 units.
