Suzuki Ciaz: Features explained
Suzuki Ciaz has been in the Philippines for quite some time now and has been among the best-selling sedans. With the growing competition in its segment and new cars getting launched more frequently, the Ciaz still holds its place securely.
There are many reasons for that. One of them being the wide service network of Suzuki. Let’s find out what are the major features that make the Suzuki Ciaz a great sedan.
On the outside
Suzuki has designed the Ciaz in such a way that it looks like a combination of sporty and elegant elements. At the front, the halogen headlights carry a sharp and sporty shape but the subtle front grille with sleek horizontal chrome slats calm things down. The bonnet is a bit curved and has a fine line on it either side. The front bumper appears to be neutral and just hanging in there with the other parts of the car.
Moving to the side profile, we don’t think anyone would have two thoughts about the fact that it is the set of alloy wheels that look utterly fantastic. They impart an elegant appeal to the car. On the other hand, we have a sharp line going through the door handles and joining the tail light cluster at the back.
Suzuki has also provided a less sharp line at the bottom of the doors. So, the side view of the Ciaz looks very aerodynamic and business-oriented. Now, coming to the rear end, we are greeted by a pair fo two-piece combination tail lights. They look pretty decent and keep things busy at the back. Nothing else worth mentioning here.
On the inside
The cabin on the Suzuki Ciaz carries an all-black theme which can act as both sporty and elegant. It feels really nice when seated inside this car. The steering wheel is pretty basic but comes with mounted controls. The dashboard has been very neatly put together with some flowing lines near the centre console where there is a large touch screen display for navigation and audio. It also supports Mirror Link feature for smartphone connectivity. We like the layout of the buttons of the automatic AC controls located below the screen and the shape of the AC vents looks great as well.
In terms of comfort, Suzuki has provided good quality seats that offer a sufficient amount of comfort and support. There is ample headroom, legroom, and shoulder room for the rear passengers. We also find headrests at the back for added comfort. An armrest is provided between the front seats and at the rear as well. The cabin insulation is also pretty good in keeping the unwanted noises from entering inside.
There are a number of storage spaces all around the cabin for keeping bottles and other items. Talking more about storage, the boot space on the Ciaz sits at 495-litres, which is quite sufficient for carrying luggage of a family on an extended holiday. Also, it has a wide opening which makes loading and unloading of the luggage fairly easy.
Under the hood
The Suzuki Ciaz is available in three variants - GL MT, GL AT, and GLX AT. The Suzuki Ciaz specs, when it comes to the engine, remain identical. There is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 92 hp at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. This entire setup promises to offer a perfect balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
Safety equipment
Suzuki says that the body of the Ciaz is built on the TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) concept and offers enhanced protection to the occupants. The CAE technologies and effective use of high-tensile steel make the body light yet stronger. Apart from that, there are a few other safety features onboard like dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, defogger, childproof rear door locks, and an immobiliser. Suzuki could have done a better job here because Ciaz’s major rivals come with some really nice safety features.
The Suzuki Ciaz price starts at Php 823,000 and goes up to Php 978,000. The sedan is available in three variants - GL 1.4L - M/T, GL 1.4L - A/T, and GLX 1.4L - A/T and in five color options - Brown, Mineral Grey, Snow White, Super Black Pearl, and Star Silver Metallic.
