Suzuki Dzire: Variants explained
Suzuki Dzire is a famous name when it comes to affordable and value-for-money sedans. It has been around for quite some time now and has impressed many people. The latest model of the Dzire is available in two variants - GL-M/T and GL PLUS AGS. We are here to discuss them and find what makes them different from each other.
GL-M/T
Out of the two available models, the GL-M/T is the base variant. It comes at a price of Php 638,000 and is quite similar to the top-end model with only a few missing elements.
Exterior
The Dzire is certainly one of the best-looking cars in its segment. Suzuki has clearly put in a lot of effort to make sure the Dzire lives up to the expectations of changing times and customers’ style choices. There a number of exterior features that work to attract more eyeballs than ever before. The headlamps on the Dzire are pretty stylish thanks to their distinctive shape.
They are multi-reflector type and come with halogen bulbs and integrated turn signals. We would have liked to see LEDs, though. The front grille plays a key role in the overall look of the front fascia of the Dzire. The Dzire gets a wide front grille with chrome surround. The inside portion of the grille has horizontal blacked-out slats that look pretty nice.
Suzuki has designed the front bumper to match the other elements of the front fascia and as a result, it looks quite aggressive. As a whole, the Suzuki Dzire feels and looks more like a European car. The side view of the Dzire is more elegant than sporty. It’s the small part of the headlamp that you see from the side, the sloping roofline,
and the partly visible tail light that add to the sportiness whereas it is the set of 15-in alloy wheels that impart an elegant touch to the car. Moving to the rear end of the car, we find the tail lights to be the most striking element. They are of just the right shape and size and look beautiful. There is also a chrome moulding bridging the gap between the tail lights and adding a bit of premium-ness.
Interior
Suzuki went ahead with an all-black interior and we must say it looks fantastic. There are various other features that will make you fall in love with the sedan even more. The Dzire comes with a D-shaped steering wheel which feels very sporty to hold. and the beautiful instrument cluster behind it pushes you more to drive enthusiastically. There are a few mounted controls on the steering wheel for controlling audio. Talking more about audio, this model gets a simple MP3/WMA CD player that supports radio, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The fabric seats are of good quality and have been designed to provide a good amount of comfort to the passengers. There is ample amount of space to move around which makes it even more comfortable. Taking the comfort level of the rear passengers more seriously, Suzuki has given the Dzire rear AC vents along with a 12 V socket. So, now you can sit comfortably and charge your smartphone on the go.
Performance
Suzuki Dzire specs list only a single engine option which powers both the available variants. It is a 1.2-litre K12M petrol engine which produces 82 hp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. For the transmission, this variant gets a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Safety equipment
Just like the Suzuki Ciaz, the body of the Dzire has also been designed in such a manner as to absorb impact and disperse the collision energy across the frame, thereby, mitigating damage to the car and its occupants. Suzuki calls this as TECT or Total Effective Control Technology. Also, the Dzire is based on Suzuki’s new-generation “HEARTECT” platform that delivers enhanced vehicle performance as it is light but highly rigid. It is characterized by a smooth and curving form that effectively disperses impact energy in the case of a collision. Apart from that, the Dzire gets dual front SRS airbags, ABS, and brake assist.
GL PLUS AGS
This is the top-end model that is priced at Php 698,000. Suzuki has made only limited changes on the variant. The biggest change would be the transmission. Instead of the 5-speed manual, this model gets Suzuki’s 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission. It also gets a 7-inch multimedia audio system. The shift knob here is black with satin chrome and there’s also a footrest for the driver. At the front of the car, you will also notice the presence of fog lamps. And that’s about it.
These were the two variants of the Suzuki Dzire. We hope that this information would be useful to you. Considering the Suzuki Dzire price, it is a great package for people looking to buy an affordable yet feature-laden sedan.
