Suzuki’s biogas production is estimated to reduce 190 tons of carbon dioxide per year
MANILA: Suzuki Motor Corporation has officially started operations for its new biogas plant located in Manesar, India.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation.The facility, which is operated by the Japanese car maker’s subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), is seen as a way for the marque to contribute towards the global reduction of carbon emissions.
According to the Hamamatsu-headquartered car maker, the plant will generate biogas from Napier grass, which is cultivated in the vicinity of the MSIL plant in question. Otherwise, it will synthesize biologically derived fuel from food waste generated by the facility’s own canteen.
Furthermore, Suzuki has estimated the Manesar plant's production capacity at 0.2 tons of biogas per day. The carmaker claims the said amount of biogas is enough to reduce 190 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Beyond the establishment of the Manesar biogas facility, MSIL has also commenced other green initiatives in its various factories.
For instance, the Suzuki subsidy has already installed solar panels at each of its manufacturing facilities. Since the current fiscal year, it has also invested 4.5 billion rupees (P3.157 billion at current exchange rates) in other renewable energy products spread out over three years.
