Suzuki Swift Sport Katana is one sexy hatch

MANILA: The icon Katana made its return recently. And in order to give the hatch lovers a taste of one of its most loved motorcycles ever, Suzuki has come up with a special edition of its Swift Sport. Inspired by the Katana motorcycle, the Suzuki Swift Sport Katana has been launched in the Netherlands with a price tag of € 28,999 which roughly translates to Php 1,691,690.

If you think that’s a steep price for a hatch, worry not as the Suzuki Swift Sport Katana will sell like hotcakes also because only 30 units will be produced.

On the outside, the Suzuki Swift Sport Katana comes dipped in either Super Black Pearl or Premium Silver Metallic. The serial number on C-pillars, bonnet stripe, door graphics, and the Katana symbol on the front doors provide this special hatch with a unique identity.

Wheels on this beautiful beast are blacked-out 18-inch Alleggerita alloys which are clothed with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. Other unique elements on the outside include bumper lip and side skirts with a carbon-fibre look, black mirror caps, and red accents.

Hop inside the Suzuki Swift Sport Katana, and the first thing that’ll catch your eye is the flat-bottom steering wheel that boasts a Katana badge. The seats which are partially wrapped in leather also show off the serial number of the special edition hatch. More of Katana branding can be seen on door cards and floor mats inside the cabin.

Coming to the mechanicals on the hatch, power comes from a K14C 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged mill. This motor is capable of generating 140 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 2,500 to 3,500 rpm.

The power is then sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The Suzuki Swift Sport Katana can do a 0-100 kmph run in 8.1-seconds and tops out at 210 kmph.

More mechanical changes which contribute to the enhanced performance of this Katana inspired hatch are the Cusco Power Brace front strut bar and HKS Hipermax MAX IV GT sports suspension along with a Remus sports exhaust system. While the sports suspension comes with adjustable ride height and damping, the new exhaust is made up of lightweight stainless steel and also features an end pipe that boasts a black chrome finish.
