Suzuki XL6 to arrive soon, will take on BR-V, Rush, and Xpander
MANILA: SUVs, crossovers, and high-riding MPVs are all the rage these days. So much so that both the sales charts and automakers’ portfolios are loaded with these vehicles to the brim. Suzuki has been one automaker that has been not so proactive in the segment. Yes, there have been the likes of Vitara, Jimny, and a few more models around the globe, however, the Japanese automaker still doesn’t have a rival against the Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush, Mitsubishi Xpander, and others.
Recent developments confirm that Suzuki is ready with its offering for the segment. The upcoming Suzuki XL6 has been spied in India. The high-riding MPV should be launched by the automaker by the end of 2019. The front fascia on the Suzuki XL6 flaunts a pair of slim headlamps that flanks a much wider grille than what we have seen on the all-new Suzuki Ertiga. The front bumpers, skid plates at both front & rear, and the roof-rails provide the Suzuki XL6 with its unmistakable appearance. The rear end, however, the XL6 appears very similar to the Ertiga. With that said, it is quite easy to make out that the XL6 is largely based on the Ertiga.
On to the mechanicals, the Suzuki XL6 should be housing the same engines as the Ertiga. Both the 1.5-litre motor that powers the Philippine-spec Ertiga and the turbodiesel that is in found in the Indian-spec Ertiga are expected to make their way to the Suzuki XL6. Although no official information is available at the moment of writing this story.
Looking at the prospects, the upcoming Suzuki XL6 should be coming to the ASEAN soon after its introduction in the automobile space. Also, looking at the recent performance by Suzuki in the Philippine automobile market, the automaker saw the Ertiga leading the sales charts in the country. Hence, the XL6 shouldn’t find it very difficult to attract buyers and rule the segment in no time. How excited are you for the upcoming high-riding MV by Suzuki?
