TAMO Futuro - Tata’s first sports car coming at Geneva Motor Show
MANILA: The automaker, which was primarily dealing with mass market production cars and commercial vehicles is now entering into a new dimension. Yes, Tata Motors has confirmed that it will be coming up with its first sports car at the 87th Geneva Motor Show. The sports car will be introduced under a new sub-brand within the company. Tagged as TAMO (Tata Advanced Mobility), the brand will be focusing on evolving new mobility and connectivity solutions.
Through this new TAMO brand, the first sports car Futuro will be revealed on March 7 in Geneva. It is indicated that the production will take place at the new production plant. If the product gains significant appreciation then the production will be shifted to the Tata Motors portfolio to match up the demand in the market.
Based on a new platform, the Tata TAMO Futuro has been developed by the Tata Motors European technical Centre (TMETC) in collaboration with Engine Research Centre (ERC).
According to reports, the TAMO Futuro will be powered by a bigger 1.2-litre, turbocharged Revotron motor which is expected to deliver a maximum power of 180 hp. The sports car is a lean machine which will weigh around 800 kg. This will ensure a great performance and improved handling.
