Team Mitsubishi Ralliart joins AXCR 2022 with Triton 1-ton pickup

MANILA: Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, supported by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's technical support, will participate in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2022, which will be held from August 6 to 12, using Mitsubishi's global strategic model, the Triton 1-ton pickup truck. The team is owned by Thailand-based Tant Sports. Two-time Dakar Rally champion driver Hiroshi Masuoka was appointed as team director.

AXCR is a cross-country rally event certified by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Mainly conducted in Thailand, the race takes place in the hot and humid atmosphere that is unique to Southeast Asia, as well as on challenging off-road courses in the highlands and jungles. Mitsubishi will use the feedback it receives from this rally to improve its strengths, such as body and chassis rigidity, maneuverability, and off-road capability.

In a statement, Masuoka said, “For many years, Mitsubishi Motors competed in the World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally, winning championships in both of them and improving the driving performance of Mitsubishi cars that can be enjoyed with peace of mind in any weather or road conditions. Mitsubishi Motors' participation in the AXCR in the form of technical support will strengthen our product uniqueness, especially for ASEAN strategic models including 1-ton pickup truck and SUVs. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will make preparations to meet the expectations of our fans, so please stay tuned.”

Mitsubishi reintroduced the Ralliart brand in 2021 and began selling special editions in Thailand and accessory parts in Japan. The company will demonstrate the engineering spirit and thrill provided by Mitsubishi vehicles by partaking in motorsport activities through technical support for Team Mitsubishi Ralliart.
