Tesla to launch 'refreshed' Model Y in PH

MANILA: Months after the nameplate was introduced, Tesla Philippines will immediately update the Philippine-retailed Model Y.

Based on the invitation sent to Zigwheels Philippines, the electrified sport utility vehicle's latest iteration will have its official reveal on February 26. This follows the unveiling held in Malaysia yesterday.

The aforementioned offering will be sold alongside the Model 3,  that is sourced from China.

Vehicle specifications

Here’s what we learned about the vehicle prior to the upcoming event.

As posted in the company’s updated website, the Philippines-spec Tesla Model Y will have two powertrain variants and will have the following prices:

Powertrain

With the abovementioned trims, the vehicle can dish out:

The model will have the five exterior color options namely:

• Pearl White Multi-Coat
• Stealth Grey
• Glacier Blue
• Quicksilver
• Ultra Red

The Tesla Model Y's minimalist design cues have been updated, which now comes in the form of the grille-less fascia complemented by the light bars at the front and back, as well as reduced body lines, and the all-glass roofing.

The vehicle may be had in standard 19-inch crossflow or the optional 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels.

Inside, the electric five-seater compact sport utility vehicle features a simple layout (can be had in all black or a mix of black and white hues) that matches the multifunction steering wheel and highlights the 15.4-inch floating touchscreen digital display.

Rear-seat passengers have an electronically-reclinable bench and eight-inch screen that is Bluetooth-ready.

Deliveries

While it has yet to be formally introduced, Tesla said that the deliveries for the Model Y will begin by April.

Once Tesla starts its retail in the Philippines, it will be competing against the BYD Atto 3 — among other nameplates in the battery electric crossover segment.
