TGR Academy continues to empower racing aspirants

MANILA: The Toyota Gazoo Racing Academy (TGRA) Philippines continues to equip more drivers who want to take an exhilarating yet safe time at the tracks.

Launched in 2014, the aforementioned initiative is aimed at providing a solid training ground for hopefuls to empower them and make them race-ready.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) shared in a statement that some graduates of the program went to pursue professional racing careers – several even participating at the TGR Philippine Cup. 

How the program works

For the initial half of the program, organizers shared racing fundamentals, proper racing etiquette, car control techniques, and braking points on the track.

For the second part of the initiative, students were given the time at the track through the following:

• Slalom activity: to test driver’s agility

• “Follow the leader” activities: designed to help them identify the racing line

“The TGRA is our way of making motorsports more accessible to racing fans,” TMP Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services Andy Ty was quoted as saying.

“We’ll have more batches of the TGRA this year, so we invite those who missed this first batch to join us in the next ones,” he added.

The TGR Academy Philippines is accredited by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and is supported by official partners Petron and GT Radial. 

This event is also supported by Toyota Financial Services Philippines, myTOYOTA Wallet, Denso, AVT, 3M, ROTA, Tuason Racing, OMP, and Kinto One.
