The 2020 Porsche Taycan is finally arriving in the Philippines
MANILA: Sports car enthusiasts have something to look forward to for the upcoming year as Porsche’s much-anticipated Taycan is going to be hitting Philippine roads this 2020. The Philippines is going to be one of the first countries where the first batch of Taycans will be sold. Porsche’s official Philippine distributor,
PGA Cars, announced that they will now be accepting orders. The electric supercar already made its debut in three continents last September and will soon be delivered next year to customers worldwide.
The Porsche Taycan is the German brand’s first fully-electric sports car and will be their first foray into the electric sports car segment. According to the automaker, they wanted to go beyond hybrid power and create a vehicle capable of “full electromobility.”
It’s also the first electric vehicle with a system voltage of 800 volts, which is two times more than the standard 400 volts. The car battery can be recharged within just five minutes and can provide enough power to go 100 km. Charging time from 5 to 80 percent is approximately 22.5 minutes.
Compared to most hybrid and electric models, the Taycan runs completely on two electric motors powered by onboard batteries. When combined, the two electric motors can produce 616 hp while on normal mode. Porsche claims that the three initial variants — the Turbo 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S — are their most powerful sports car models to date.

All variants are equipped with an all-wheel-drive system. In addition to that, a Porsche-designed two-speed transmission is also integrated in the rear axle.
In terms of design, the Taycan took heavy inspiration from the iconic Porsche 911, but still carries some typical sedan configurations and features. However, it doesn’t lose its sporty touch with an active rear spoiler ensuring excellent aerodynamics and a smooth ride.
