This song is inspired by the sound of the Mustang Mach-E
MANILA: While electric vehicles (EVs) don’t emit as much sound as conventional vehicles, that doesn’t mean they can’t inspire artists to make music based on what little sound they make.
The Mustang Mach-E is an EV that’s available with standard and extended-range battery options with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powered by permanent magnet motors. It is equipped with an extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive and has an estimated range of at least 300 miles. In extended-range all-wheel-drive configurations, Mach-E is targeting 332hp and 565Nm of torque.
Ford also offers two special performance versions — the GT and GT Performance Edition. Both have an estimated 459hp and 830Nm.
Without a conventional engine under the hood, the Mustang Mach-E uses electronic sound inspired by classic 80’s sci-fi cinema and was designed by Ford audio designers along with the studio Ozone Sound.
That’s the sound that motivated DJ, dance music producer and experimental pop auteur Matthew Dear, who is a founding member of world-renowned electronic music label Ghostly International and originator of the “Hands Up for Detroit” anthem. He has collaborated with artists such as Tegan and Sara and his remixes have been commissioned by the likes of The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service and The Chemical Brothers.
Dear used the synth-heavy sounds of the Mustang Mach-E to create the song ‘New Breed.’
“The idea of remixing the sounds from the Mustang Mach-E was immediately interesting because I’ve always considered myself to be a ‘sound tinkerer.’ But after I got to actually hear and experience the digital propulsion sounds that Ford created, I was sold on the project. The sounds are cooler than I thought they’d be — cinematic and sci-fi — and all the noises the car makes have a sense of modern musicality. Creating “New Breed” was a new experience and I think the song — like the car — takes its passengers on a voyage,” said Dear.
The original Mustang has been featured in a number of classic songs, and with "New Breed," the Mustang Mach-E ushers in a new generation of Mustang in music.

"New Breed" is streaming now on Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube or where you listen to music.
