This Toyota Corolla Hatchback Special Edition is red-dy to rumble
MANILA: Toyota offers something unique for sport hatchback enthusiasts who prefer their cars with bolder colors and expressive styling. The 2021 Corolla Hatchback Special Edition, which appears in spectacular Supersonic Red paint and an exclusive body kit, seems as if it has just been released from a custom shop.
Only 1,500 units of these fiery-red models will be offered for the 2021 model year.
The Special Edition (SE) will roll out in late summer, and it creates a strong style statement while adding convenience and safety upgrades that are typical with the entire 2021 Corolla Hatchback line.
For the 2021 model year, Toyota puts more emphasis on leisure in the Corolla family, with exceptional models in both sedan and hatchback body designs. The new SE draws more attention due to its custom body kit, black-painted 18-inch alloy wheels, and its red-hot exterior color that overpowers the aftermarket in value and style. The body kit provides an exceptional Special Edition emblem, a rear bumper garnish, black rear roof spoiler, side skirts, and sporty front splitter.
Bold and expressive colors equate to a bold design. The 2021 Corolla Hatchback also has two new color options, the Wind Chill Pearl and the Magnetic Gray Metallic, and both are also available with the Black Roof option. The entire color range for 2021 includes Blue Flame, Galactic Aqua Mica, Midnight Black Metallic, and Classic Silver Metallic.
The SE Nightshade Edition also makes a comeback, which adds blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels and blackout trim to the customer’s selection of various exterior colors.
Versatility is one standout feature of hatchbacks, and the 2021 Corolla Hatchback provides more of it through its enhanced cargo space option, which can be accessed with no extra charge for all models, except for the SE Nightshade. This new feature depresses the cargo floor and changes the spare tire with a tire repair kit.
All 2021 Corolla Hatchback models include rear-seat-installed side airbags, which brings the total airbag count to 10. Aside from this, the 2021 Corolla Hatchback features a standard rear cross-traffic alert with a blind-spot monitor on the XSE grade and is optional for the SE grade, which has the SE preferred package.
Similar to all Corolla Hatchbacks, the SE combines the sportiness of the 168hp 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine, responsive multi-link rear suspension, and the robust TNGA-C platform. The combination of high efficiency and high-pumping energy of the 2.0-liter engine comes from VVT-iE intelligent variable valve-timing on the intake side, high-speed combustion, Toyota D4-S fuel injection combining secondary port injectors and direct injection, and a high compression ratio (13:1). The VVT-iE uses an electric motor rather than oil pressure in controlling the variable valve timing.
A variable cooling system with an electric water pump and a two-discharge port oil pump both assist in maximizing engine efficiency and performance. The more efficient cooling system also guarantees faster cabin heating during cold days and faster cooling down when the air conditioner is utilized.
Similar to the 2020 versions, all 2021 Corolla Hatchback models are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 range of driver-assist technologies. These include road sign assist, lane tracing assist (CVT only), automatic high beams, lane departure alert with steering assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control (CVT only), and pre-collision system with daytime/low-light vehicle and pedestrian detection, including daytime bicyclist detection.
Here's hoping we can see this beauty in Philippine showrooms sooner than later.
