Why does Grab receive an increasing number of TNVS applicants?
According to Grab, the reason behind the increase in applicants is the removal of the Certificate of Conformity from the list of requirements set forth by the LTFRB for TNVS franchise applications. How many TNVS slots were opened by the LTFRB in January?

Almost a thousand TNVS applicants went to the event. According to Grab Philippines, the reason behind the increase in applicants is the removal of the Certificate of Conformity from the list of requirements set forth by the LTFRB for TNVS franchise applications.
After the ratification of LTFRB's Board Resolution No. 005 Series of 2023 in March 2, TNVS applicants are no longer required to submit the bank-issued Certificate of Conformity for the application of the Certificate of Public Convenience.
One of the applicants during the recent GrabCar-avan event was 52-year-old Gregorio Garcia. Since 2016, Garcia has been a GrabCar driver-partner and had to pay a “boundary” to rent a car from an operator. In January, Garcia was able to purchase his own vehicle with the help of Grab's partnership with Toyota Financial Services, which enabled him to process his TNVS franchise as the owner. Garcia now has plans to purchase another vehicle to rent out to other TNVS drivers.
“Talagang malaki ang tulong na naibibigay sa akin ni Grab, unang una sa pinansyal – halos lahat ng pangangailangan namin nakukuha namin rito gaya ng mga gastusin sa bahay, pambayad ng kuryente at tubig. Ngayong may sarili na kong unit, nag-paplano na ako na makakuha ng isa pa sa mga susunod na taon para maging negosyo ko na siya talaga. Maraming salamat sa Grab (Grab has really helped me a lot, especially in financial matters. We can pay for almost everything we need from it, such as household expenses as well as electricity and water bills. Now that I have my own unit, I'm already planning to get another one in the next few years so I can really turn it into business. Thank you very much to Grab),” Garcia said.
“We thank the LTFRB for making it easier for more Filipinos to earn an equitable living through ride-hailing – and it is clearly manifested with the outpouring of applicants from our recent GrabCar-avan,” Grab Philippines Senior Director for Operations Ronald Roda stated. “We are optimistic that through this development and programs such as GrabCar-avan, we are taking the right step towards providing more livelihood in the ride-hailing sector, while offering our commuters with safe, reliable, and more affordable means of mobility for their everyday needs.”
