TMP hails 2024 Toyota GR GT Cup PH winners

MANILA: Familiar names in the Philippine e-motorsport scene dominated this year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup Philippines (TGR GT Cup PH).

In a statement, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) shared that Luis Moreno was hailed as the champion for the recently-concluded race weekend after garnering 75 points.

Joining him at the podium were Enzo Ison in second place (who scored 48 points), and Russel Reyes at the third spot (45 points).

Per the TGR GT Cup Philippines’ official website, the first-place winner of the national finals will get to take home a cash prize of P100,000. The second placer will also be given a prize of P75,000, and the third placer a prize of P50,000.

Aside from that, the trio will don the country’s colors and shall face their counterpart in the region for the competition’s Asia Finals slated October 13 in Malaysia.

TMP also gave special awards to Ison (Driver of the Day) and Matthew Ang (Fastest Lap).

“This has been a fun event. Thank you so much for giving us sim racers the opportunity to have another shot at the [TGR GT Cup>. Hopefully there’s more to come,” Reyes was quoted as saying.

“Thank you to my family and friends for supporting and helping me. And to my team, Legion of Racers, thank you for the practices,” Ison said.

“I would like to thank Toyota Motor Philippines for a phenomenal event. It’s the first time we had a live event head-to-head, and it’s good to see more of these events coming out. This year, I had a different approach in terms of training. I wanted to be more open, more dynamic, and I’m happy that it paid off,” Moreno noted.

Held for the first time live in a public venue, winners in the TGR GT Cup PH battled out with 37 other hopefuls at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Apart from the e-racing action, TMP  also displayed the GR Yaris, GR Supra, GR 86, Fortuner GR-S, Corolla Cross GR-S HEV, and Hilux GR Sport at the venue — together with numerous exclusive GR merchandise.

The 2024 TGR GT Cup PH is backed by Petron and GT Radial, and in cooperation with Seiko. This event is also supported by Toyota Financial Services Philippines, myToyota Wallet, Denso, AVT, 3M, ROTA, Tuason Racing, OMP, and Kinto One.

Meanwhile, TMP also announced that the second race weekend of the TGR Philippine Cup 2024 (previously known as the Vios Cup) is set on September 28 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. Just like the previous events, admission is free at the on-site event.
